Central Garden & Pet and TRIXIE partnership - pet industry acquisition announcement

Industry Update | Central Garden & Pet Announces Planned Acquisition of Majority Interest in TRIXIE, Further Advancing Consolidation in the European Pet Products Market

Recently, Central Garden & Pet Company, a leading U.S. pet and garden consumer products company, announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a majority interest in TRIXIE Heimtierbedarf GmbH & Co. KG, a well-established German pet products company.

According to Central's official announcement, TRIXIE will continue to be led by its existing management team following the completion of the transaction, while certain existing shareholders will retain minority ownership. Central also stated that the transaction is expected to close in the first half of its fiscal year 2027, subject to regulatory approval and customary closing conditions.

Founded in 1974 and headquartered in Tarp, Germany, TRIXIE has developed into one of Europe's leading pet product and pet treat companies. As highlighted in Central's announcement, TRIXIE currently offers more than 6,000 products and serves over 30,000 pet retail stores worldwide, with product categories covering dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and small animals.

Central noted that this transaction will further strengthen its position in the European pet market and create a stronger platform for continued expansion across the region.

From an industry perspective, this transaction once again reflects the ongoing consolidation trend in the global pet products market. As consumer demand for pet products continues to evolve and upgrade, leading companies are placing increasing focus on regional expansion, brand collaboration, and category integration. In this context, strategic acquisitions such as this are expected to play an increasingly important role in shaping the future of the international pet products industry.

As one of TRIXIE's long-term partners, Xiamen Sunnypet Products Co., Ltd. has continued to follow developments in the European pet products market and among key industry players. Over the years, we have remained deeply engaged in product segments such as pet travel products and wooden pet houses, and we have also visited the TRIXIE team during multiple editions of Interzoo to exchange views on product trends, market demand, and category development.

In our view, the cooperation between Central and TRIXIE will not only further enhance TRIXIE's influence within the global pet products supply chain, but may also create new opportunities for upstream and downstream partners across the industry.

Looking ahead, Sunnypet will continue to build on more than 20 years of manufacturing experience in relevant product categories, while closely following changes in international markets and retail channels. We remain committed to enhancing product development, supply chain coordination, and customer service capabilities, in order to provide global partners with more stable, competitive, and market-relevant solutions.
